Thank you for your interest in becoming a SMYAL volunteer. Our volunteers
continue to be the backbone of our organization. SMYAL is dedicated
to supporting and enhancing the self-esteem of LGBTQ youth and
to increase public awareness and understanding of their issues.
With your help, we can continue to expand the scope and quality
of our services.
All applicants must attend training sessions before becoming a SMYAL
volunteer. The training session consists of SMYAL 101 and other
training specific to your areas of interest. All Volunteers should
prepare to spend a total of 12 hours in training.
Volunteers interested in working directly with the youth must be
24 years of age or older, although this policy is flexible and we
do accept younger volunteers on a discretionary basis. Please contact
