Our after-school Youth Center is located on Capital Hill and is the hub of
our programming. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays we open our doors to
LGBTQ youth from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Mondays are often a Young Women Only
space and Thursdays are often a Young Men Only space.
SMYAL provides life skills and employment readiness programs, individual and
group counseling, arts workshops, HIV, substance abuse and tobacco
prevention groups, HIV counseling and testing as well as fun social
activities. The format is based on a Youth Development and Leadership
Model, utilizing after-school youth programming guidelines established by
the DC Children and Youth Investment Trust.
